Sprint Mogul ROM Update
I pulled down the new ROM update for my Sprint Mogul phone/pda and installed it this morning. The Mogul (aka the XV-6800 on the Verizon network) is an HTC device powered by Windows Mobile 6.
FINALLY…the onboard GPS functionality has been enabled, allowing you to much more precisely locate your position and route yourself using Google Maps for Mobile, Live Search and other Mobile apps like Street Atlas 2008’s handheld edition that comes on the DVD. If only I’d had this when I went to Hawaii last week. It would have made GeoCaching much easier as I wouldn’t have had to mess with an external bluetooth GPS that I carted over.
I hear that EVDO Rev. A is also now supported with this updated ROM, but i can’t test the EVDO Rev A in Slower Lower Delaware though. I’ll have to wait until I head north next and see what kind of performance I get in the "big city" of Newark.
One other neat feature is a drop-down in the top right-hand corner that lists the running Mobile apps to easily switch to them. It also shows a red X to the right of each so you can kill them from the home screen. Nice. You used to have to go to Settings and Memory and go to the Running Programs tab to do the same thing. Much nicer having it on the screen and not having to buy and install a third-party app to do such a common-sense thing.
Now I can always find myself (well…physically at least)…
