Mix 2008 Conference Session Videos Online

Like 99.9999% of the rest of you, I couldn’t afford the time or money to hit Mix 2008.  Fortunately, videos have been posted for all of the sessions.  You can either browse through the listings here and play them directly from the site or you can click the "download" link under any of them and pull down a WMV, iPod or Zune version for offline viewing.

I think this is going to finally push me over the edge to buy an 80Gig Zune.  I don’t have a mongo music library or the like that would justify the purchase and I’m quite happy with my little Creative Zen Nano Plus MP3 player that I use to listen to my podcast lineup.  I love the fact that the Zen takes a single AAA battery, so carrying spares to keep me going on the road (about every 18 hours of play or so) was pretty cheap and easy.  Justifying a Zune was always a pretty tough sell with my financial advisor (read wifey).  If you look at the numbers, however, I think the ~$250 for a Zune plus being able to peruse all of the training sessions at Mix is much cheaper than the airline ticket, conference fee, meals and hotel costs that I would have incurred by going to Mix.

I thought about purchasing the ever-so-slick iPod touch, but at over twice the price (~$499), that would be an even tougher pitch to you-know-who.  Plus I’m told that the Zune (at around $248 or less if you do some searching) does a really nice job with playing back pretty much any video and it supports podcasting to boot (my next endeavor if I ever get time).  So either tonight or tomorrow, it’s down to (insert your favorite discount store here) to pick up a Zune and get it ready for an upcoming trip.
